MEET THE FACE BEHIND MINDFUL FEEDBACK

I’m Linda Weber, the owner of the psychotherapy with neurofeedback practice Mindful Feedback

I have always been interested in wellness, in particular mental well-being. Mental well-being, I believe, is most possible with a well-regulated brain. The brain can become dysregulated by being over-aroused or under-aroused. When this happens, all aspects of daily functioning can be affected.

As a neurotherapist, I specialize in integrating psychotherapy with neurofeedback.

Psychotherapy is primarily talk-based therapy and is intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being.

Neurofeedback, often referred to as EEG biofeedback or brain wave training is a type of biofeedback in which individuals are trained to improve their brain function. Neurofeedback has been practiced for well over four decades. Hundreds of thousands of individuals and families impacted by various mental health and/or neurological conditions have benefited greatly from this powerful, effective, established, and proven intervention.

As a Registered Psychotherapist, I specialize in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a trauma-informed approach.. I have also honed my neurofeedback skills and received certification in neurofeedback with Board Certification International Alliance (BCIA).

Working as a therapist, I have witnessed that gains can be made by processing areas where one feels emotionally stuck. With this in mind, I brought neurofeedback into my practice as an adjunct to psychotherapy. Neurofeedback operates at a core physiological level to assist in emotionally regulating the brain and changing unhelpful thinking patterns.

For example, if someone is struggling with anxiety, by calming the brain through biofeedback, they can better face their fears in their day-to-day life. It is meaningful to me to witness clients’ progress and see them lead fuller lives, less burdened by their concerns and the dysregulated brain wave patterns hampering their well-being.

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to reach their potential and lead their fullest life possible. Neuroplasticity makes it possible for brain wave patterns to change. By using psychotherapy together with amplitude training through neurofeedback, it is possible to calm an over-aroused brain and uptrain an under-aroused brain, enhancing the opportunity for change and increased well-being

As a regulated health professional, I am guided by the values and principles of my profession. The well-being of the client is always my top priority. The most satisfying moments in my practice come when clients tell me that they have regained lost function or made a gain that was unanticipated. For example, it is immensely satisfying when someone with a mood disorder says that after treatment, they feel an energy that has been lacking for days or weeks, or months, or if a client with a concussion tells me they have regained focus and energy.

If you or someone you know is interested in psychotherapy or neurofeedback, or a therapy approach that combines both, please feel free to email me at mindfulfeedback@outlook.com.
